I am currently having some problems with mine including diagnostic codes p1711 and p1713.
Allison transmission neutral safety switch location.
I was having problems with my transmission and one day i went to get in it and it said shift inhibited return to neutral to reset and after doing some rese.
In addition to the column shifter another component associated with the shift selector is the nuetral safety back up nsbu switch mounted on the selector shaft of the transmission.
The nsbu switch transmits selector position information to the tcm.
This may be an internal electrical fault with the transmission neutral safety switch position range sensor that tells the computers what gear the transmission is in i have seen this fail on several models in the past before and had to replace it for issues like this here if this has not been checked tested at all this should be done to see if.
This switch tells the tcm the position of the shift leve.
Go under the vehicle and locate the transmission position sensor switch.
Column shifters have the neutral safety switch located on the of the transmission.
Mechanical floor shifters have the neutral safety switch located on the of the transmission.
If so what problems was your transmission giving you before you replaced the switch.
The switch is located in two places on the vehicle.
The nsbu switch mounts directly onto the transmission housing from the outside and detects the angular position of the shift selector shaft.
Transmission range or neutral switch explains the range switch testing or the neutral safety switch.
Part 4 of 7.
Put on protective clothing oil resistant gloves and safety glasses.
Remove the transmission position sensor switch step 1.
I have found a tsb 02 07 30 011c that seems to cover my problems.
Has anyone here had to have their park neutral safety switch replaced on their allison transmission.
